Field technicians are the team members who get deployed when a client needs boots on the ground and the issue can’t be resolved remotely. They also set up new equipment for clients, so you will likely see one of these three guys around your office sometime!
Meet Nathan!
Nathan is our Field Technician Supervisor here at Straight Edge, working out our headquarters in Corpus Christi. He has been a part of our team for over three years now and if you are in the area and ever need onsite IT support, you may have met him!
If Nathan could be a superhero, he would be Batman or Ironman because he likes the idea that normal people can do big things. He’s not much of a cook (but he makes great fajitas) and he’s not much of a reader (but he loved Harry Potter), but he is really good at guessing plots in shows and movies.
As a new dad, Nathan smiles a lot at his son, or even just when talking about his son. Thankfully, he’s a night owl, so the sleepless nights with a newborn don’t get to him too badly. However, he would love to teleport to a beautiful, isolated beach to relax and recharge.
He’d love to have dinner with Nikola Tesla, someone he believes could have truly changed the world if more of his ideas had ever gone mainstream. When he was growing up, he wanted to help people by being a fireman or police officer, but now he enjoys fixing things for people in this industry. He believes people should be kinder to themselves and he’d love it if he could quickly and easily learn to code. The title of his memoir would be Way Finder.

Meet Ryan!
Ryan is a Field Technician who has worked at Straight Edge for just over a year. He is also part of the National Guard, and can run 2 miles in 13 minutes and 45 seconds. You might have noticed that he took a brief hiatus to attend bootcamp, but has recently returned to our Corpus Christi office, where he says the team really looks out for one another.
He loves that Corpus is small enough that all of his circles of people are connected somehow (one of his former classmates from college also works at Straight Edge, for example). Ryan wishes he could quickly and easily learn to be an expert cook to create delicious meals for his wife, but he says his breakfast scrambles are consistently good. His wife describes him as humble, diligent, and kind, and his friend in the National Guard told him he “would follow him into battle,” a compliment that truly touched him.
His favorite book is “Difficult Conversations: How to Discuss What Matters Most,” because it shaped his perspective in communicating with people in a way that he still goes back to today. When he was little, he wanted to be Batman or Ironman, because, just like Nathan, he loves that they are normal people but still superheroes.
The quickest way to make Ryan laugh is with a meme on Instagram, or you could ask him about his cats, Taro and Guero.
Meet Tarek!
Tarek is also a Field Technician here in our Corpus Christi office, but he is originally from Sinai, Egypt. Tarek started at Straight Edge almost two years ago while he finished up his Bachelors at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi, and started working full time with us in December of last year. The people closest to him describe him as charismatic, ambitious, and open-minded, descriptors he considers a smile-worthy compliment.
When he was little, he wanted to be a pilot, a doctor, or an engineer, but now he thinks he should make “the funniest movie in the world” with Michael Bay, Kevin Hart, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He is also a very good cook and makes the best shakshouka (but the craziest food he’s ever tried was goat brain). He would love to teleport back to Egypt to visit his family and enjoy his favorite foods. He says the book “Data Structures and Algorithms in C++” made him cry, but not because it was a good read.
Tarek can beat box, speak fluent Arabic, and he likes to use programs like HackTheBox and TryHackMe to penetrate vulnerable systems in a safe learning environment for fun. He’s obsessed with BMWs and will argue about their superiority to Mercedes. He’d love to be Spider-Man so he can swing around freely, and (playfully) throw webs at Nathan.
He likes working at Straight Edge because he thinks the people he works with are super smart. He prioritizes constantly learning new things and likes that he can do that in this career.
